We are proud to announce our involvement in a recent DIY SOS BIG BUILD project, as part of Children in Need 2019!
As part of this year’s Children in Need DIY SOS Big Build, we donated a Level-Dec EasyFit and gravity drainage system to a renovation project in Blackburn.
The project centres around the transformation of St. Silas Church Hall, which has been fully stripped out and transformed into emergency accommodation for the charity Nightsafe.
Filming for the programme took place in September, with suppliers and tradespeople donating products, skills and time, to help convert the space for the charity, which helps vulnerable young homeless people aged between 16 and 24 get back on their feet.
Established in 1990 Nightsafe runs five emergency shelters across Blackburn and Darwen.
Julie Thomas, Chair of Trustees at Nightsafe said: “We are amazed and delighted that DIY SOS: The Big Build for BBC Children in Need are coming to Blackburn with Darwen and even more thrilled that they chose to work with Nightsafe.
“The organisation has, for the last 30 years, supported those most on the margins of society, seeking to alleviate the plight of homelessness and working with those most vulnerable and in need of support.”
“The upcoming show will give the young people a place to call home whilst they develop independent living skills”
“It will also give them a home that is safe and secure and in the heart of the local community.
“Somewhere more than just a place to thrive, a place to build new friendships, confidence and have fun as they meet life’s challenges.”
